The structure of the TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) display is relatively complex and delicate, and it mainly consists of the following key parts:

 

  1. Glass substrate

Function: As the carrier of TFT and pixel electrodes, it is engraved with complex circuit traces to control the arrangement and voltage distribution of liquid crystal molecules.

Composition: TFT LCD display screens usually consist of two glass substrates with a liquid crystal layer between them.

  1. Thin Film Transistor (TFT)

Function: TFT is one of the key technologies of TFT-LCD. It controls the on and off and color changes of each pixel like a switch. Through the on and off of TFT, the arrangement state of liquid crystal molecules under different voltages can be accurately controlled, thereby achieving accurate display of images.

Location: Located on a glass substrate, each pixel has a corresponding thin film transistor.

  1. Liquid Crystal Layer

Function: Liquid crystal molecules can change their arrangement direction under the action of an electric field, thereby controlling the degree of light transmission, which is the basis for TFT LCD display screens to achieve image display.

Location: Located between two glass substrates.

  1. Color filter

Function: Color filter is used to filter white light into three primary colors of red, green and blue, providing rich colors for images.

Position: Located in front of the liquid crystal module, corresponding to the transistors in the TFT matrix.

Structure: The basic structure of the color filter includes a glass substrate, a black matrix, a color layer, a protective layer, and an ITO conductive film.

  1. Polarizer

Function: The polarizer is divided into an upper polarizer and a lower polarizer. They convert the light emitted by the backlight module into polarized light, and control the amount of light transmitted through the rotation of the liquid crystal molecules to achieve image brightness and color adjustment.

Position: Located on the inside and outside of the two glass substrates.

  1. Backlight Module

Function: As a light source provider, the backlight module provides basic lighting for the LCD screen.

Composition: Usually composed of lamp tubes (such as LEDs), reflective plates, light guide plates, diffusers, and prisms. These components work together to evenly distribute light behind the LCD screen.

  1. Circuit Board and Driver IC

Function: Used to control the transistors in the TFT matrix and adjust the voltage of the liquid crystal layer to control the content displayed on the screen.

Components:

Source Driver: Responsible for providing image data signals to each column of the TFT matrix.

Gate Driver: Responsible for activating each row and making it ready to receive data.

  1. Other auxiliary structures

Diffuser: Used to reduce the directionality of the light emitted from the light guide plate, make the emitted light uniform, and blur the defects on the display surface (such as scratches on the optical sheet, black spots, etc.), and also help improve the brightness of the front of the liquid crystal module. According to the position and function differences, it is divided into upper diffuser and lower diffuser.

Storage capacitor: Used to store the charge of the pixel and maintain the display state of the pixel.

Control line: Used to transmit control signals to achieve precise control of TFT and liquid crystal molecules.
