What is the difference between TFT Display and IPS Display?

There are significant differences between TFT displays and IPS displays in many aspects.

First of all, from the point of view of reference and technical basis, TFT screen is a thin film field effect transistor, which is a type of active matrix liquid crystal display. The IPS screen is a technology based on TFT. It is still a TFT screen in essence, but it changes the arrangement of the liquid crystal molecular particles.

Secondly, from an advantage point of view, the TFT screen can actively control individual pixels on the screen, thus greatly improving the response time. The IPS screen uses horizontal conversion technology to make the response speed of the LCD screen faster and more stable. Especially when processing continuous dynamic images, the response speed of the IPS hard screen has a significant advantage.

In terms of structure, TFT-type liquid crystal displays mainly consist of fluorescent tubes, light guide plates, polarizing plates, filter plates, glass substrates, alignment films, liquid crystal materials, thin mode transistors, etc. The two poles of the IPS screen are on the same surface, unlike other LCD modes where the electrodes are on the upper and lower sides, showing a three-dimensional arrangement.

In addition, TFT display screens have the characteristics of good brightness, high contrast, strong layering, and bright colors, but they also have the disadvantages of relatively high power consumption and high cost. The IPS display has a stable panel, does not flicker when touching the screen, and has high color accuracy. The actual color is consistent with the color on the screen. It is widely used in fields such as broadcasting, medical and professional design.
