Transflective, Reflective, and Memory-in-Pixel (MiP) memory display technologies each have unique differences and features, which are described below:

Transflective

Features:

Dual display mode: Combining the advantages of reflective and transmissive LCDs, it can maintain good information readability in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Energy saving: When the outdoor ambient light is sufficient, the display is displayed by the reflected part of the screen, thereby reducing energy consumption.

Display effect: When the indoor ambient light is insufficient, the light emitted by the backlight unit illuminates the entire display to ensure good brightness, contrast, and color saturation.

Application:

Widely used in scenarios that need to meet both indoor and outdoor display needs, such as smartphones, tablets, and some outdoor display devices.

Reflective

Features:

Complete reliance on ambient light: Reflective displays are completely dependent on ambient light for display, do not require a backlight unit, and therefore have extremely low power consumption.

High readability: In strong light environments, reflective displays are particularly good, reflecting bright and clear images.

Viewing angle limitation: Due to the working principle of reflective display, its viewing angle may be limited, especially under non-direct light conditions.

Application:

Common in e-book readers, outdoor billboards and some low-power display devices.

Memory-in-Pixel (MiP) memory display

Features:

High refresh rate: MiP technology can provide an experience similar to e-ink display, but the refresh rate is much higher than traditional e-ink display, thus achieving a smoother display effect.

Low power consumption: Because MiP technology reduces the number of switching between pixels, it has lower power consumption.

High contrast: MiP display screens usually have a higher contrast ratio, which can present more vivid and clear images.

Application:

Suitable for scenarios where static images need to be displayed for a long time and have strict requirements on power consumption, such as electronic tags, smart wearable devices, etc.
